1
1 O for a thousand tongues to sing (Ps. 119:172)
My dear Redeemer's praise!
The glories of my God and King, (Ps. 145:1)
The triumphs of his grace!
2 My gracious Master, and my God,
Assist me to proclaim,
To spread through all the earth abroad (Matt. 9:31)
The honours of thy name. (Ps. 66:2)
3 Jesus, the name that charms our fears,
That bids our sorrows cease—
'Tis music in the sinner's ears,
'Tis life, and health, and peace.
4 He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
He sets the prisoner free; (Isa. 61:1)
His blood can make the foulest clean— (Isa. 1:18)
His blood availed for me. (Gal. 2:20)
5 Hear. him, ye deaf; his praise, ye dumb, (Matt. 11:4-5; Mark 7:37)
Your loosened tongues employ;
Ye blind, behold your Saviour come, (Isa. 35:5-6)
And leap, ye lame, for joy! (Acts 3:8)
6 Look unto him, ye nations, own (Isa. 45:22)
Your God, ye fallen race;
Look, and be saved through faith alone, (Eph. 2:8)
Be justified by grace!
7 See all your sins on Jesus laid: (Isa. 53:6)
The Lamb of God was slain, (John 1:29; Rev. 5:6)
His soul was once an offering made (Isa. 53:10)
For every soul of man.
8 Awake from guilty nature's sleep,
And Christ shall give you light, (Eph. 5:14)
Cast all your sins into the deep, (Mic. 7:19)
And wash the Ethiop white. (Jer. 13:23)
9 With me, your chief, ye then shall know, (1 Tim. 1:15)
Shall feel your sins forgiven;
Anticipate your heaven below,
And own that love is heaven.
