My Farewell Service: Harvest, Thanksgiving & Rugby World Cup

This Sunday at AMC is our Harvest and Thanksgiving Service, the last in our series based on the Rugby World Cup: David and Jesus, as well as being my Farewell Service as I take leave of AMC for MWC in Norwich.

Our Old Testament reading for Harvest and Thanksgiving is: Genesis 8:15-22 where I will focus on the LORD's song
As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.”

The Gospel reading for Harvest and Thanksgiving is Mark 4:1-9 where I will focus on the abundant grace of our LORD in scattering seed "wastefully" and then teach that the seed is the Word, and use this lovely story of the vicar who believes the bible has been untouched in his church for 400 years!!!

This far in our World Cup Series: David and Jesus, we have seen that when we are in Christ, we are Bigger Than the Giants that face us; Bigger Than the Crowds around us; Bigger Than the Brokenness caused by our sin; Bigger Than Injustice; and finally this week, Bigger Than Defeat (huge thanks and kudos to Westview Methodist Church for the themes and videoclips)

Our World Cup focus will be: "As passionate as you are, you give your best, and, with the LORD on your side, that's all you can do, and leave the rest up to Him." You might "win", you might be "defeated". In Christ we are Bigger Than Defeat! Our best is to bear the fruit of the Spirit in all situations (scrums between flesh and spirit) ... that's the harvest, even a hundredfold, that the LORD wants to reap from us.
